On the way home this Sunday from a gymnastics meet in Cabot, AR, we stopped in Clarksville, AR at McDonalds for a little break and noticed a nice looking trail leading out of the parking lot. Turned out to be quite a nice trail; paved and 1.8 miles long and part of a city park. This neat old bridge was very near the trail-head and I just had to get a shot of it.

On older gentleman walked up to me and was trying to ask me something, but he was so hard to understand that I couldn’t really figure out what he was wanting or looking for…? He finally gave up and walked off. Something about looking for his hunting partner who was somewhere near in the woods. It was a little bizarre.

Went out shooting in the cold, just above 16 degrees after the wind chill was factored in. Driving across a bridge between Picher and Cardin Oklahoma and saw this site, the warmth of the reeds and willow really made me feel warm inside so I had to shoot it, still warms me up just looking at it. Not really sure what the yellow colors in the water were, sadly this water is contaminated with lead and zinc and deemed unsafe even for swimming.

A sad old shed with a lot of stories to tell. This is in a town called Cardin, OK. The government is buying out the entire area due to lead and zinc poisoning, and many of the elder locals are convinvinced that there is really no poisoning but that the government is really making everyone leave so that it can “steal” the mineral deposits from the ground after the town is abandoned.
